A pilot attempted a light wind launch at Regionals, (secondary lower launch
for CSS, in San Bernardino) and didn't run hard enough, for the conditions ; he
crashed the Atos-B glider, into some large bushes, and it was given to me.
I removed the D-tubes, and they both look Great, (felt every sq/inch, for soft
spots) . I found a few small abrasions, that are easily fixed on the sail ; a new
tail , and tail mount have bin found.
Most of the damage was to the keel and down-tubes. I found a set of down-tubes ;
all I need , to put this glider, back in the air, is a stock keel,
if anyone has one in their parts barn ?
The keel
that was broken, was modified with with carbon tubing, and the guy did a
bad job, with no fiberglass between the aluminum and carbon to address
that dissimilar metals thing ; also the splice between the stock aluminum
to carbon tubing, was not long enough. I do Not wanna fix his lousy work
and would rather replace the keel with a stock one.
Thanks : Bille

Bille,
That is one "funky" keel.... well I doubt it will work, Post a reference measurement, nose plate to the ctr of the sail attachment pin. I have a good VS keel hidden away will see if its the same (tho I suspect the pin placement will be shorter than the N/C).

Hi Bille.
Did you decide if it was worth the effort to modify the slightly different length (N model??) keel that I sent you photos of, as a workable solution for this ATOS B project?
LMK,
Clark

Billie, Just a FYI, my VS Keel, measured from the bottom front of the nose plate to center of the release pin in on sail bracket, 84.5cm.
