Reg11,

This years Texas 1200 and Texas Open '12, I'm calling it, had the best XC conditions of any year since 2002 when we had the 1st Texas Open .

Organizing an event on a date, months ahead, and hope there will be some good flying weather.??

The South Tx weather dampened the start of the Race a bit, but once the group reached Leakey and with a favorable soaring forecast, hopes were for a Rally.

With three canopies the launch area was crowded for sure. That day the wind was more ESE. South cycles were coming thru at the lower launch, saving us a hike up to the East ridge.

The day turned on like clockwork. After some early parawaiting, all three of the event pilots were safely at cloud base, >6,000, and headed over the back, WNW, in good lift. David is rather familiar with this country, having quite a few flights originating here and flight originating further South. I don't think anyone got video, it is some great scenery.

" Day 4: mandatory foot launch day from 150 m Mt Buz in Leakey Tx, we flew (128 kms) landing near Sonora, Tx" http://earthcog.com/skyblog/

Nice clouds this morning. 8-5-12
