Buffalo Mountain, Oklahoma, launch improvement project fund

Post by Roymahoney »

Buffalo Mountain Flyers of Talihina, Inc. received a grant from the Free Flight Foundation last year for a 2 year multi-site improvement project in the Ouachita Mountains of SouthEast Oklahoma. To date we have completed the new SSE launch at Heavener, OK, completed revamping the Little Yancy launch near Red Oak, OK, and have been working on two new launches at Buffalo Mountain near Talihina, and "PG Point" near Panorama Vista on Talimena Drive. We are currently trying to raise the additional funds we need to complete the new launch at Buffalo Mountain. Dozer and track hoe are needed to remove a large number of remaining trees, along with some additional landscaping. The work we are doing will make these launches both HG and PG friendly. I've attached an aerial photo that shows the dozer work that was started last year along with a couple of photos showing work remaining. Most of the trees you see need to be cleared out to the headwall to smooth the airflow and allow PG's to make it out safely. If you would like to donate toward our efforts to complete the new Buffalo Mountain launch, we have both a mail-to address and PayPal donation link at http://buffalomountainflyers.org/html/projects.html
Thank you for whatever amount you may be able to contriubute!
