Any particular reason you deleted my post and moved this thread? I don't get it.

This thread first popped up on the main hang gliding page. I responded with a couple of questions which I believed were simple straight-forward questions concerning the comp. The thread seems to have been subsequently moved--and along with the move my post has disappeared.

Just wondering why that happened.

You put one in this forum, and an identical one in the main forum, so I deleted the redundant one and moved people's answering posts here.

Not true Will Robinson--somebody else initially posted to the hang gliding page. I saw it there--and posted a response. That's it.

Holly shit, you are right marc, I guess things move around magically on online forums all the time.
(I guess that is what makes these series of tubes (the interwebs) so dynamic)

I will try recreate my response to you again

I remember you asked about FAI# and type of glider for scoring purposes

I Responded with:
You do not need FAI , your USHPA # would suffice

and as far as type of glider -
we are were following the same TTT Challenge handicap rules
Handicap multiplier for glider type:
Modern Rigid -- 1.0
Topless -- 1.5
Double surface -- 2.0
Single surface -- 3.0

Handicapping for pilot skill:
Competition Pilot -- A+
Hang 4/5 -- A
Hang 3 XC'er -- B
Hang 3 non XC'er -- C

Also that Dean Funk from TTT will be helping to run the meet.

I'm a treetopper local and the team challenge is a fabulous fun way to get beginners and experts alike together for a great learning experience. Mikey almost always shows up and the price is worth it for his and Dennis' instruction alone. The thought that additional big guns like Johnny, Dustin, Zippy, Zack etc will be there makes this an amazing opportunity for competition development which in my opinion warrants more press and should be returned to the main hang gliding page.

If I may be so bold and presumptuous--a word of advice from having been in lots of these (though you may already know all this):

The main purpose of the Treetopper's Team Challenge is to get as many of the lesser-experienced pilots trained and into goal as possible. It is not a racing event, even though it serves to train for racing. Potential tasks need to be thought out well in advance with that in mind--because there are usually dinner-lectures in the evening there is a premium on getting everyone back early from easy retrieves. A lot of time will be needed for the basics of instrument set-up and use--another reason for having a set of preplanned tasks with a waypoint list that can be accessed and downloaded prior and during the comp. By keeping the actual flying part as simple and rewarding as possible--and providing ample face-to-face lecture time from the big guns (the reason I keep going) the Team Challenge has become one of the most successful and popular non-sanctioned types of hang gliding comp/meets in the country. I commend you on stepping up to the plate and running one.
