Flying with Wolfi (day 1) 8-22/20 Chelan to Creston

Post by Mike B »

Got a chance to do some XC with Wolfgang Siess on his summer tour.
Tough getting up at the butte. I got low near Mansfield and lost Wolfi and Aaron.
Thought they crossed and I would catch them on the other side. Turns out they turned at Sims and headed back for an out and return.
I was hoping to fly home. Day ended abruptly. Really fun time!

Thanks for posting a great video for us snowbounders to enjoy today.

Brings back good memories, and I can appreciate the "good crossing" comment as well as the other comments peppered in.

If I have the opportunity to fly there again, I'll hopefully be more patient and get higher before crossing the gorge. Low crossings and benching up on the eastern wall is too stressful. The eastern Washington frying pan on the east side of the gorge is a great reward for the pilot after executing a "good crossing".

The comment "Is she great or what?" could have a dual meaning. A good driver gets there within an hour, a great driver arrives before the glider is in the bag, and she brings a chair and a cooler. I see evidence that you do have a great driver. Your glider ain't too shabby either.

Thanks for sharing that video here using YouTube instead of fakeBook.
