As a fellow rigid pilot this one looks like it could be pretty cool. Did the builder really name it the “Impact”? Why not the Ka-blam, or Ker-unch?

Although I'm sure "Impact" was meant as in "Have an impact on the sport" other implications could definitely be thought of. Worst name since the "Rotor" harness?

What's in a Name?

But I'm guessing that 'Impact' is not eponymous.
Paragliding.........it's almost like flying.

Does the glider’s name portend the lack of landing in the vid?

Seriously, though, my hat is off to anyone who can design and home-build such a beautiful wing!

I'm guessing this video is about the owner "Olaf" managed to pull together enough parts and past connections to the original design, so its considered a Homebuilt? I believe the original was the product of a technical college in Switzerland and something like 8 wings were built (?) and Olaf was the key designer... but I'm sure some one will correct me.

They were an interesting mesh of Carbon spar and aluminum ribs, massive ratio of flap to wing (a little like the Swift). Pretty sure Davis flew with a pilot who flew this wing at a Worlds in Florida? I heard through the rumor mill it was a bit tricky to fly or had some uncomfortable characteristics.

Here is a guy describing the setup:

I think this wing has been flying for about 15 years. Maybe in earlier development. I recall, because when I heard, I made the same comment about the name then. (Maybe it was on the rigid wing list?)
Note to self:
Fly Downwind = Good.
Land Downwind = Bad.

Just stumbled upon an old reference. Circa 2005. Very impressive work.
