Hot Times

Post by The Oz Report »

It's March. Why is it so hot?

It's been in the upper eighties for a week now. On Saturday the forecast for Groveland, Florida from the National Weather Service is for 95 degrees. This is still March. This is the first of Spring.

<a target="_blank" href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/weather/ ... /p>

s it March or May? Near-record to record warmth is en route to a large swath of the south central and southeastern United States over the next several days. Temperatures may even soar into the 90s in a few spots amid one of the warmest Marches on record. Numerous cities are likely to tie or break daily temperature records, with a few all-time March records in jeopardy as the early-season sizzler sets in.

Hot weather has already swelled over parts of Texas and the Gulf Coast in recent days. Houston hit 90 degrees on Wednesday for the first time this year and about six weeks ahead of average. New Orleans hit 89 degrees on Wednesday, breaking its previous daily record by 5 degrees, and tying the monthly record for March. New Orleans also set record highs of 88 and 86 on Monday and Tuesday

Hopefully the hot weather will drive the coronavirus out of the south. We'll be glad when it moves on outta here.

I believe our very existence not just our lifestyles depend on not doing this, " and so, little by little, a hotter, more chaotic, and more dangerous world is becoming normal to us, as we sleepwalk toward more tragedies."

A worrying trend in all societies or countries here though.. Its called "shifting baseline syndrome" and it applies to climate disasters, inhumanity, pandemics … Just one example is those horrendous bush fires earlier this year, over here in OZ, which baked a Billion animals have been dulled by the Coronavirus battle and our eagerness to try to finally get back to normal- and "normal" isn't going to change a damn thing…

A question heard on Jeopardy last week:

"He leaves a distinctive carbon footprint everywhere he goes. Even bigfoot escapes into Canada when this pilot migrates north toward Chelan or Idaho in summer."

Just over a year ago we read the last reply to this topic and it seems appropriate now, to share how Australians are being shown this important logic. This is why we should be acting smart now, a simple to understand message-please share with others...

Really enjoyed that article Col.r
There are many global issues facing our global society down at this moment in time. I sure hope we have leaders with enough courage to make some hard decisions for long term benefits in the next few years.
