Sailmaking is a mysterious and arcane art; I am in awe of those who do it.

Me too, JZ--I can't even sew a button on.
And does anything suck worse than having to remove a sail and ship it to one of the few places that can repair it? Can't just drop your wing off at the friendly neighborhood, fully equipped and qualified HG repair shop, eh? Actually, I got very lucky. The one time I needed a sail repair, I just happened to be living 45 minutes away from Bob Trampenau (sp?). That dude can sew (if you're new to HG, Bob was the owner of Seedwings and made excellent gliders known for superb sailwork). He doesn't make hgs anymore but does miscellaneous repairs in his yard and garage.

Yes. One of our pilots had his sail lost by the shipping company and had to take action against them before they agreed to compensate him for its loss.
Paragliding.........it's almost like flying.
