Chasing and harassing a bald eagle at 1:40. Super Dell has nothing on you Ryan. No doubt the eagle was terrified by this noisy and aggressive intruder.
Man, I've had it with this immature and thoughtless shit. I will personally report him to the NY Dept of Fish and Wildlife.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply Ryan, but that quad-copter got really close at one point. Regardless your intent, it really looks like chasing wildlife. We're all sensitive about this issue after the Del Schanze owl-kicking episode. Note that the Bald Eagle Protection Act specifies that it is unlawful to "molest or DISTURB" the birds. Potential $10,000 fine and a year in prison. Although the eagle footage is rare, beautiful and awe-inspiring, to prevent others less responsible than yourself from following suit, I'd sure appreciate it if you edited it from your video.

To get a second opinion and verify if I was over-reacting, I showed the video to my wife. Her comment:

"He should have gotten the copter of of the air as soon as he saw the eagle."

Good advice.

looked to me like the drone was following the bird rather than chasing it. Certainly didn't look as though the bird was frightened at all. Trying to lump this in with Dell's antics seems awfully over the top really. Enjoyed the video.
Good luck Ryan, if you can get into trouble for that then the world has gone crazy indeed.

I try not to interfere with birds of prey. For example if I see them parked in ridge lift, it's my understanding that they're hunting by looking for movement below. I try not to distract them. It's out of respect for the bird.

I updated the blog post with a response to those concerned about the Eagle filming, and urge everyone that feels this footage was in poor taste to read it and reconsider based on the additional information provided...
