I'll bet he gets the "When are you going to take off again" question from the spectators that see him land, too.

Looking at the last Oz Report and Jetman teaser video on VTOL prompted me
to take a look and reflect on Yves Rossy’s success in creating a new flight method.

“In December 2006 (in Bex, Switzerland) Rossy became the first to successfully
fly horizontally for six minutes using four jet engines and wings strapped on his
back. He was quoted as saying: "The idea is to have fun, not to kill yourself"”

Wow, has it actually been 13 years!

Jetman goes VTOL:

Yves Rossy wrote: “The moment when action is coming, there is big concentration, it’s a mix of fear and
adrenaline that we transform into good energy, into power.”

“Yea, I am comfortable in the air, you are just free. That feeling of freedom in all dimensions,
is so good! Just playing in the air with a machine that brings you into another world and
that world is beautiful, it’s only beauty.”

“We love to fly, we are exploring the limits. We are in an element of nature, air; and that element
we have to respect it. We have to respect it like we respect nature, so strong , so present we are
just lucky guys who can play in those elements, for some small moments.”

“The future of human flight is clear, to be completely autonomous like a bird. The real dream
is to be completely free, completely free.”

This video includes the above quotes, the best video editing and music of any so far..

What I have learned from Yves Rossy over these last 13 years is that:

A continued diligence for caution and safety, born from respect of life and living it well, “yours”
is the recipe for success in flight and the risk management of flying.

He has set a very good example of how to do such things as we do.

Wow, a credit to the smart perseverence of Yves Rossy. A very noisy , unlandable ( unless/until he perfects his VTOL ) jet powered BMRW ( Body Move Rigid Wing ). Any wealthy wingsuit people would surely see this as the powered RW version  180 km/hr , 1000 ft/ 6 secs , 13,000 ft+ ceiling . Nice video too . An ex militairy and airline pilot, Yves said

" Sometime you see a bird flying and you think like it would be so cool to be on this branch , takeoff and then fly in formation with your friends…this dream that we all have to fly like a bird ".

" The magic moments when you are part of your domain".

" Not just playing something--you are the thing".

I reckon he would enjoy hanggliding 8)

An amazing achievement from this man and his team.

Look at this example and Yevs Rossy's message.

This is what the Oz Media is capable of inspiring.

This is the message a new Didicated HG Org must
claim for its own!

Why doesn't this place and this Sport under USHPA
make such videos as these?

Until this kind of effort is mustered, HG will languish
into obscurity.

No, I am not whining or blowing hot air.

It sounds much more like, a last Gasp for any Air!

Way cool. Lucky this sort of stuff can't be used in HG where you might get more than a 5 minute flight.

Nice view of the thrust gimbal arrangement.

Yves Rossy identifies the elevated launch ramp as a possible method of staying safe during vertical launch and landings. He also discusses the red “death” zone below 200 meters, and the future technology needed to safely operate in this zone.

Until solutions are in place to solve the death zone problem, “only then will it be possible to make this system, these wonderful wings, accessible to everyone who is interested in flying them in the same way as sports such as hang gliding, skydiving or paragliding. It won’t be for my grandmother, but it will be for passionate enthusiasts.”
