<r>The Mountain Sheep population is a big deal here in Northern NV.
While Davis made his "Rare Sheep" joke we were having the largest
trade show held here in Reno, NV.

It's called the "Sheep Show" Sponsored by the Wild Sheep Foundation.org

Venders from around the world come to advertise their outdoor trips and
fishing & hunting vacations. It is the largest such trade show in the world.
Hunting and fishing supplies and outdoor survival tech.. Worth attending..

Maybe Davis knew that??

Now about USHPA

"Marks Quotes"

""Pilots getting themselves hurt or killed doesn't do us any favors when it comes to preserving flying sites.""

Yes a true statement, Said just a bit to gently.

It's an absolute result, closure that we want to avoid. In order to insure that
we must be proactive not reactive. Insurance is reactive based on accidents.
To land owners it is already to late after a death or law suit.. Some forms of
flying need to be restricted period..

Speed wings are a catch all term. I don't want my flying restricted because
a fool goes skimming over stuff at 60mph then paints the rocks..

""Mark's Quote""
""But neither do we have evidence to support banning some forms of foot launched
flight, based on the type of wing being flown. If we did have such evidence, we'd
recommend changes to mitigate the risk.""

But, I argue in the real world it's to late after the fact as far as landowners are concerned.
If you USHPA are going to hand out ratings, you are obligated to enforce restrictions
on known dangers and risks in flight ops.. You have to mirror the examples given by
the FAA in mitigating public risk factors. By default it comes with the relationship
USHPA has with the FAA.

""Mark's Quote""
""Again, that's one of the advantages of self-insurance. We can adjust both coverage
and underlying operating rules to address areas of risk. Just like we're already doing
right now.""

This may work for insurance and I know that is your focus, but USHPA is not just
about insurance. We are an anomaly in the aviation line-up. AOPA, SSA, EAA, USAA,
Cessna Pilots Association, Ballooning and all groups I can think of do not provide insurance.
They provide a unique focus on safety and training. Insurance is the sole responsibility
of the participant. The Org is a source of lower insurance rates and perks beneficial to the pilots.

USHPA is trying to be a focus on three major responsibilities which keep us flying.

1. Training and Pilot Rating System.

2. Disciplinary Enforcement System.

3. Liability Insurance for Pilots and Land Owners.

You can't run USHPA like an insurance company. It is far from one.
The insurance is a service to the 1st two missions which make us whole.

The 1st 2 require proactive actions to protect the realm USHPA has carved
out in aviation.

The 3rd focus is insurance which requires reactive focus based on history of risks.

The three focuses are the perks pilots benefit from.

The insurance is the stop gap and fall back protection for the realm USHPA
operates in with the permissions of FAA and legal precedents.

This is why we must carefully consider types of foot launched flying and their
risk factors. We must disengage from those methods of flying which would
and will threaten our existence proactively..

Saying no is the responsible choice.
Just like SSA said no to us HG pilots.
It has proven to be a wise choice!

You and the BOD risk the very survival of USHPA by allowing miniwing stuff.
Bad decision which if not reversed will lead to wing suits…

You also risk the survival of USHPA with this idiotic diversity reform vote and the
obvious reduction in members that will result if it passes.

My diversity picture of a BOD is fine if they are elected on their merit and
popular vote, not their sex, age or race. This is Aviation and has no room for errors.

<LINK_TEXT text="http://upstatebusinessjournal.com/wp-co ... _stock.jpg">http://upstatebusinessjournal.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/career_diversity_stock.jpg</LINK_TEXT>

Any of these people represented in this picture has equal opportunity in USHPA right now!!
They just have to do the work and post a record of their qualifications..

Don't tell me that is what your doing, because it's not!!! 5% of the vote, is dumb period..
It robes us of our right to choose our representatives. It devalues us as members!!

These two decisions by the BOD are mis-management of our true objectives
as a viable organization based on our historic focus..

If these two major issues are not reversed then there will be a competing
organization to USHPA.

You and your team will have made it a reality.

In this case Bob K. and Logan R. will be looked at as forward thinkers.
Not the enemies we thought they were. Flawed in their style but far
from wrong about the results..

"Ben Reese…oh, never mind."</r>
