Re: Irresponsible PPG Operators are Dangerous

Spotted this GoFlyinstrument several months back, noted that you can even order a airspeed probe, looks to be chasing the Oudie market. As a bit of perspective, In the cold ice covered hinterlands of Canada (pretty much all of Canada) ADS-B has not be implemented. ADS-B out is not yet making it's wa...

Re: Irresponsible PPG Operators are Dangerous

"See and be Seen" is really all we have. A passive black box that receives everything would be wonderful but as far as I know, nobody has done it. The ADS-B receiver would be interesting to check out but it would not cover the more common Mode-C/S, Flarm, Fanet, LiveTrack, or what ever hol...

Re: Oblivious Operators are Dangerous

I wish some enterprising ultralight interested individual would take on building a low power ADS-B receiver and code it to alarm the owner of approaching aircraft. If the PPG in this case had even a 10 second heads up and a vector of the approaching 208, they'd likely both be at home having dinner ...

Re: Constant tension electric winch

I think remote/self operation is more desirable than to having a ground winch operator. The pilot is likely quicker and more likely to recognize something has gone wrong up in the air than a winch operator on the ground. That means a quicker response to undesirable scenarios. Hmmmmm, ok the first t...

Re: Constant tension electric winch

Electric offers some real potential (electrical pun intended  ) It's not without challenges and I certainly would not consider remote/self operation as a safe practice.... tho likely a great source of "Fail Army" stuff for F-Book! Everything out there in the adaptation of electric po...

Re: What trikes are people using as Tugs?

Curious, what is the story about the "Dragonfly being a non-starter"? Must admit, I follow a bunch of the UK Microlight groups, bureaucracy in the UK seems pretty harsh... making a simple health declaration for the pilots becomes an endless online experience.

Re: $5 million dollar questions????

insurance companies are less inclined to take on some of the risks As "they say", an almost laughable statement. Insurance companies will underwrite anything for a profit, it is the statistical bases of their business model. Market wide collusion artificially tightens the markets, after w...

Re: Keel needed, for Atos-B

Billie, Just a FYI, my VS Keel, measured from the bottom front of the nose plate to center of the release pin in on sail bracket, 84.5cm.

Re: Keel needed, for Atos-B

Bille,

That is one "funky" keel.... well I doubt it will work, Post a reference measurement, nose plate to the ctr of the sail attachment pin. I have a good VS keel hidden away will see if its the same (tho I suspect the pin placement will be shorter than the N/C).
