It could work something like in RC gliders, and maybe full-size sailplanes(? I don't have experience). The initial force gets you off and going up quickly. Once up, you can use the length and stretch of the bungee to aid kiting in wind to get up further.

Way cool. Lucky this sort of stuff can't be used in HG where you might get more than a 5 minute flight.

Nice view of the thrust gimbal arrangement.

I don't even know why it should be called the 'Aussie method'. It should be 'THE METHOD', why ever do it any other way? There are plenty of reasons, some good, some bad (reasons). Often, there is much more going on that may require a pilot remaining un-clipped. In our towing operation, loading onto...

Not that i am against Aussie method, but not sure how it would undoubtedly prevent this. Undoubtedly, no. But much better to be able to look at it clearly and thread things through the right hole. Nothing is perfect, but this is about risk mitigation. I could tell what was going to happen in the vi...

The multi gas engine example, while interesting, is the wrong way. Engines are a pain, and 1 is enough if going hybrid. 4 or 8 electric motors, 0 or 1 engine, I reckon.

And, for what it's worth, PLEASE make it shrouded fan, thrust vectoring hybrid. Folding props too, we should keep reasonable gliding capability.

Yes, absolutely agree. There's a few different detail configurations which will work, what we need is one (or more) of the HG and/or trike companies to take on the vision to make HG relevant and big on the scene for future air mobility. Doesn't need to be too far in the future either since we are al...

Gotta be some sort of potential, given this type of thing; https://solarmagazine.com/first-solar-powered-helicopter-solar-gamera-first-flight/ 1000W/m^2 x about 0.15 available in good sun. HG needs what, about 5kW? Certainly going to get a nicer glide if it is all light and convenient enough. Far ou...
