Bizarre video Agreed. Wonder what he was trying to do with the stall. I asked myself the same question - looks like a stall and negative spin - definitely no collapse involved that I can detect. The closest I have come to flying a speed wing like this was the 16m Twister. At my weight it could stal...

Re: Disastrous

That's horrible. They had accidents and said the 'f' word? Those broken bones are bad. Reminds me of the recent tragic accidents at the Lakeview fly-in, Sylmar, And potato hill. All three of those HG pilots are still in the hospital. Two have yet to recognize people, Even though it has been months....

I comment on safety on a lot of forums - not just this one. That's PG, HG trikes, ultralights, sailplanes, light aviation, foot launched sailplanes etc. I've written on the PG forum before and have been told in no uncertain terms my comments are not welcome. Fair enough. Perhaps there is no point pr...

Bille knows the risks accepts them and doesn't bitch when he suffers the consequences - more power to him. What annoys me is when some pilots minimize real dangers that impressionable students may take as fact. This statement strike me as a classic example. " Collapses are essentially not a rar...

…realizes he has little chance of a complete recovery to a pain, and disability free life, he's most likely going to wish he did pass away at times. Good point--the guy should be euthanized. The beauty of this list is it's full of people who know right from wrong and...

Lovely sentiment but it's just that. Over the next 30 or 40 years as he heals slowly, his bones mend but the ligaments, discs tendons and soft tissues remain permanently impaired, and realizes he has little chance of a complete recovery to a pain, and disability free life, he's most likely going to ...

Here's another classic from the PG forum. http://www.paraglidingforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=32118. The video shows a pilot taking an 80% right asymmetric soon after launch. The only reason only the pilot survived was altitude above the PGDMC - but you see he loses quite a bit in recovery and doesn't c...

The comparison of death rates in HG and PG is interesting, but insufficient to form an accurate basis for comparison of serious impairment as a result of participation in the various sports. I'd be more interested to see a comparison of serious injury rates which to me provide a more valid basis for...

The post begs the question why a pilot who posts so consistently on the importance of skill in PG safety, would apply the speed bar so low in turbulence, why such self professed skill in active piloting was unable to prevent the collapse, and why a pilot who has routinely stated point blank that al...

I can guarantee you any posting on the PG forum other than those affirming the pilots skill an finesse in this situation will immediately be met with pack mentality hostility, with the moderators in firm affirmation. The post begs the question why a pilot who posts so consistently on the importance ...
